In-Depth Review: How to use Consio to generate more revenue for your eCommerce brand

February 19, 2025

Email and text message marketing are the go-to marketing methods for many ecommerce brands today.

Meanwhile, the old-fashioned phone call seems left in the dust. However, with the right strategy and tools, outbound phone calls can significantly boost sales and build stronger connections with shoppers and customers.

Consio is a new phone sales platform that helps digital ecommerce brands operationalize their outbound phone sales and engagement strategy. Launched in early 2025 by several early Gorgias hires (the leading helpdesk platform for ecommerce brands), Consio makes outbound sales more efficient and enables ecommerce brands to have contextual conversations that improve retention and generate additional revenue.

Consio is specifically designed for established ecommerce subscription brands and businesses with high average order values (AOV).

This review explores Consio’s key capabilities in depth, but keep in mind that as an early-stage company, Consio is launching new features rapidly. We’ll do our best to keep this article updated as things change.

Consio at a glance

Consio is a phone sales platform that gives ecommerce teams tools to increase outbound sales and create more relevant and contextual sales experiences.

How it works

Consio syncs seamlessly with Klaviyo and Shopify (Zendesk and Gorgias integrations are coming soon) to create segments of call recipients, like abandoned carts or churned subscribers. You can set your preferred call frequency, windows to call in, and create voicemails to use during the campaign creation process. We’ll dive deeper into this below.

Consio is not an AI call platform. To use Consio, you’ll schedule time for your agents or sales team to make calls to customers. Where Consio shines is that it makes the process efficient and easy, so each rep is able to make more phone calls per hour.

Whenever Consio connects a call, your team member will take it over. Unanswered calls can automatically receive a pre-recorded voicemail customized for that specific segment and stage of the sales journey.

Pretty nifty, huh? Here are some quick facts about Consio:

General information:

  • Founders: Philippe Roireau & Martin Latrille (both early hires at Gorgias).

  • Launched: Beta version launched in 2024. Public release in January 2025.

  • Target audience: Small to medium-sized ecommerce and subscription businesses with a high AOV. Great for brands running on Shopify. Ideal for brands with $1M - $200M in annual revenue.

Key features:

  • Real-time customer data is displayed in the caller UI to guide contextual conversations.

  • Automated call configuration and sequenced voicemail drops.

  • AI-generated cue cards to guide agents and sales reps through the conversation.

  • Live sales and productivity dashboards.

Setting up Consio

Consio is a new product with powerful functionality, but it’s relatively easy to set up for two reasons:

  • Ease of use: Consio offers a streamlined onboarding experience. Users can connect their Klaviyo or Shopify accounts to sync contacts and create segments in minutes. The user interface is intuitive, allowing sales teams to launch campaigns quickly. Setting up Consio is simple and can take as little as 30 minutes.

  • Customization options: As a new product, Consio offers limited customization options, but that doesn’t mean the tool isn’t powerful. Consio launched with a powerful set of essential features, and you can customize the most important parts of your outbound strategy, like time zones and call frequency. You can also use the app in light or dark mode (for the more aesthetically minded among us).

Let’s walk through the setup process to see how simple it is.

Step 1: Sync your contacts

Consio currently integrates with Klaviyo and Shopify to ingest contact information and build segments of call recipients. Soon, you will also be able to sync contacts and create segments using Zendesk and Gorgias.

Step 2: Provision a phone number & upload voicemail messages

Provisioning a phone number in Consio is super easy and can be done directly within the UI. While you can begin using the number immediately, it takes roughly one week to be whitelisted across all phone providers and services, ensuring it isn’t marked as spam. Consio ensures your number is secure and your brand name appears on the caller ID.

Consio expedites leaving a voicemail by automatically delivering a voicemail message when a call goes unanswered. In other words, there’s no need for the agent or sales rep to record every voicemail (which also makes the call process more efficient). During setup, simply record your voicemail messages for your campaign and upload them to Consio. You’ll add them to your campaign in the next step.

Step 3: Create a campaign

Once you’ve synced your contacts and pre-recorded your voicemail messages, it’s time to start configuring your campaign. A campaign is a specific initiative on which you want to move the needle. For example, let’s say you want to reach out to contacts who didn’t complete the checkout process after adding a product to their shopping cart.

You could create a campaign called “Recover abandoned shopping carts.”

Consio allows you to set a time frame for initiating calls for each campaign and the frequency of those calls.

When a call goes to voicemail, you can have Consio automatically deliver your pre-recorded voicemail. This saves your team significant time, as they don’t need to record each voicemail manually.

Consio also helps guide agents and sales reps through conversations using cue cards. Cue cards are like scripts or lightweight notes that can be referenced during a phone call.

To generate cue cards, input product or service information in the fields provided. Then, Consio’s AI will generate cue cards based on the information you input.

Once your campaign is created, click the Start Campaign button to start making phone calls. Convio will take over, and when the tool connects with a contact, it will pass the call to a human agent or sales rep.

Pros and cons of Consio

Like any software tool, there are pros and cons to using Consio.

  • Consio requires ingesting and storing sensitive customer data, which may be a concern for some companies (but you can find Consio’s privacy policy and more in their footer)

  • Limited number of integrations (but more to come soon).

  • It’s a new platform with limited features.

Pricing options

Consio offers a simple and transparent pricing model based on call minutes. The lowest plan starts at $30/mo for 100 minutes of call time.

Who is Consio ideal for?

Consio is a new and powerful outbound tool that will make a big splash in the sales ops space. But that doesn’t mean every business needs it. Businesses that fit the following criteria should seriously consider using Consio:

  • Ecommerce and subscription-based brands looking to improve phone-based customer engagement.

  • High AOV (average order value) merchants wanting to follow up on abandoned carts and large purchases.

  • B2B teams wanting to streamline phone outreach.

Tips for creating segments in Consio

The key to successfully setting up Consio is prioritizing the right segments.

Here are some examples of segments you might target with Consio

  • Customers who abandoned their cart at checkout, subscription payments that failed, or churned subscribers. You can use Consio to engage these folks directly by phone and win or retain their business.

  • If you have a high churn rate and want to reduce it, you can call churned customers to understand more about why they churned. These conversations are great winback attempts, helping you recover lost revenue.

  • Customers who’ve accumulated a large volume of loyalty points or rewards, but haven’t used them. This can indicate customers who were once engaged but have lost interest in your brand, and helping them get more value through their points is a great way to re-engaged them.

What’s next for Consio?

Consio is just getting started, but the future’s looking bright already. We spoke with them recently, and here are some of the things they’re working on:

  • Integrations with Gorgias and Zendesk: Current integrations are limited to Klaviyo and Shopify, but Zendesk and Gorgias are coming soon.

  • AI voice agents: Right now, Consio hands off the call to a human agent. AI agents will offload some of the more routine questions so your agents and sales reps can focus on more complex conversations.

  • Inbound calls: Consio is currently focused on outbound calls only. However, they’re considering expanding to inbound calls to offer a more comprehensive phone sales platform that can compete with Aircall and Dialpad.

  • Ticket generation for every connected call: When Consio connects with a contact, a ticket with a link to the Consio call will be created in the configured help desk tool.

Use Consio to drive more revenue

Consio’s setup process was a breeze, instantly showing how it helps businesses close more sales and drive meaningful customer conversations. I’m curious to see where they take the product from here, as there are many opportunities to expand with integrations, AI, and other critical business use cases.
